  • In mutual agreement with the Nueva Alianza community, the LAMOR company will carry out an evaluation and technical inspection to begin the recovery of the oil and environmental remediation.
  • This happened after a fruitful meeting with the PCM and PETROPERU.
  • Local labor from Nueva Alianza and its surroundings will be used for the remediation works.

After several hours of dialogue, representatives from the Nueva Alianza native community agreed to provide access for the finish company Larsen Marine Oil Recovery (LAMOR) to the area where crude leaks were reported because of the action of third parties.

This way, said company will carry out the evaluation and the work plan to begin as soon as possible the environmental remediation of the area.

This important agreement was reached after meeting that took place between the leaders of this native community and representatives of the Executive, as well as PETROPERU.

On that issue, Luis Zapata Palacios, Corporate Manager for Communications and Social Management of the Company, remarked that said community has allowed PETROPERU to resume the execution of the Contingency Plan in the areas affected by the crude leaks. However, indicated that beyond the importance of this agreement, what is fundamental is that a dialogue process has begun with the community to propose development initiatives emphasizing water, sanitation, education and health.

“Today, LAMOR will begin the technical inspection (in the area), to determine the scope of the recovery process for the crude that was built in the flotation canal, caused by third parties, as well as the environmental remediation”, indicated the official at the time of mentioning that the inspection work should not take more than five days. “What is important is that local labor will be used for the remediation works, in coordination with the apu, given the experience in similar works that took place in the past”, he mentioned.

Zapata Palacios remarked the fact that the corresponding authorities will determine who was responsible for this crude leak, caused by third parties. “As we know, and as has been verified by the OEFA, this was intentional and has generated damage to the ecosystem, something that concerns PETROPERU, the community and the country”, he ended by saying, while indicating that everything is under investigation.

The predisposition that our company has always shown towards dialogue should be remarked. This way, PETROPERU reiterates its commitment with the care of the environment and continues to work intensely to restore the environment to its natural conditions in the shortest time possible.
