Women of Talara showed creativity and a way with cooking in gastronomical competition
The II Gastronomic Competition "Cocinando emprendimientos" was carried out with great success, organized by PETROPERU with the objective of encouraging economic initiatives among women from Talara.
The competition was held in the Plaza Grau of Talara with the participation of women from Talara, who since last October have been training in the gastronomy workshop taught by Senati on behalf of PETROPERU.
Four groups of five women participated in this opportunity. With creativity and ingenuity, they prepared dishes based on carob, a popular product in the north for its nutritious and energizing properties, but little valued in Peruvian cuisine.
After the hard-fought competition, the jury formed by chef Javier Ruzo Ocampo and the representatives of the companies PETROPERU and Tecnicas Reunidas, announced their verdict, highlighting the creativity of the participants to give life to a stew with northern identity.
The winning dish was named: Prawns in flames in algarrobina sauce and was prepared by the ladies Jéssica Del Pilar Cornejo Esteves, Ingry Mercedes Eca Querevalú, Janis Judith Ramos Garcés, Eliana Del Rosario Rivera Silva and Carol Janina Chiroque Reaño. Each of them received as a prize a microwave oven and an electric oven.
The participants thanked PETROPERU for giving them the opportunity to train and demonstrate what they learned in this type of activities that take place in the city center. They indicated that their goal is to successfully complete this productive course and then generate their own income from their home or through their own business.
Crafts fair
During the morning of Saturday 25, the public that visited the Plaza Grau in Talara tasted the dishes that the students of gastronomy of Senati offered for free. Likewise, they were able to visit the stands of the "Talara en movimiento" entrepreneurship fair, where they exhibited and sold the best works of women from Talara who, thanks to PETROPERU, have been trained in the workshops of marine crafts, costume jewelery and weaving crochet, in Senati.
