Winning works of the PETROPERU Cope 2018 at UNMSM

On Tuesday 11, the winning works of the 2018 Copé Award, the most important literary awards in the country, organized and promoted by PETROPERU, will be presented at the San Marcos National University. The event, scheduled for noon, will have the presence of the outstanding academics Jorge Valenzuela and Carlos Garcia Bedoya, in addition to the winners of the Copé Gold Award in the stories and essay genres: Stuart Flores and Ciro Alegría.

On the event, to be held in the José Antonio Russo Delgado auditorium, of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the UNMSM, the books of the winners of the 2018 Copé Award will be presented.

In the essay category, the winning work is entitled “Adagios. Crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica” (Adages. Criticism of the presence from a melancholic science), which references, in the first instance, to the Latin meaning of the word, that is, to sayings, proverbs or popular sayings and then develop a philosophical conception based on the concept of reciprocity. Its author is the professor and dean of the Graduate School of the PUCP, Ciro Alegría Varona.

In the story category, the winning work, entitled “La piel fría y los cuentos ganadores y finalistas de la XX Bienal de Cuento “Premio Copé 2018”” (The cold skin and the winning and finalist stories of the 20th Story Biennial "2018 Copé Award”), gathers 16 stories by various writers, such as Stuart Flores, Gonzalo Castro, Edgard G. Aguayo and José Enrique Sotomayor, among others.

Presentations like this one will be repeated in diverse points of the country, like Ayacucho, Huancayo, Piura, Arequipa, Cusco and Trujillo, besides the capital city, in universities for university students to be able to attend.

It should be noted that in 2019, the Copé Award celebrates 40 years of constant promotion and communication of Peruvian literature, at a national level, reflecting PETROPERU's commitment to cultural production and access to culture.
