Winning works of the 2018 Copé Award will be presented in Iquitos
As part of the Second Iquitos Amazonian Book Fair 2019, PETROPERU will present the winning works of the literary contest 2018 Copé Award, VI Essay Biennial and XX Story Biennial, in the city of Iquitos.
The winning work in the essay category is titled “Adagios. Crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica”, whose author is the professor and dean of the Graduate School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), Ciro Alegría Varona. This work makes reference, in the first instance, to the Latin meaning that the word possesses, that is, to sayings, proverbs or popular sayings.
In the short story category, the work “La piel fría” and the winning stories and finalists of the XX Story Biennial 2018 Copé Award will be presented. For the case of Iquitos, it was decided to present the bronze winner, given that the work “La casa abuela” was written by Loretano Luiz Carlos Reátegui.
Father Joaquín García Sánchez and writer and screenwriter Javier Velázquez Varela will be in charge of the presentation, in a free admission ceremony to be held on Tuesday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bar Association, located at Calle Echenique No. 390.
The Copé Award is a literary contest organized and promoted by PETROPERU since 1979, to promote literary creation, reading, writers with a track record, and also young promises of Peruvian fiction. The presentation agenda includes cities such as Iquitos, Lima, Ayacucho, Huancayo, Piura, among others.
This activity is part of the schedule of presentations in provinces undertaken by PETROPERU as part of its commitment to decentralization and promotion of literary creation and reading, within the framework of its Cultural Policy.
It should be noted that at the end of the event copies of both works will be presented to those in attendance.
