Winning books of the 2017 Copé Award will be presented in the Huancayo FIL

The winning works of the 2017 Copé Award will be presented this Friday, June 1 at the III Huancayo International Book Fair 2018. This will be the presentation of the novel “El laberinto de los endriagos” by Hugo Yuen, and the collection of poems “Colección privada o los colores ocultos de la turbación” by Marco Antonio Quijano, which will be presented by their own authors and literary critics.

Also presented will be "La noche y su sombra" by Ernesto Zumarán; “Bajo la mancha azul del cielo” by Alejandro Susti; and “Antología de poemas de las Menciones Honrosas y Finalistas de la XVIII Bienal de Poesía”. The appointment will be in the main auditorium of the Municipality of Huancayo at 7 pm. Admission is free.

Commentaries to the novel award will be in charge of the renowned writer and also winner of the Copé de Cuento Award, 1985, Cronwell Jara Jiménez; while the poems will be dissected by the poet and cultural promoter, Alessandra Tenorio Carranza.

About the book “El laberinto de los endriagos” the qualifying jury states that an Amazonian microcosm is constructed through a language with many expressive resources, which invites multiple readings and labyrinths. With regard to the “Colección privada o los colores ocultos de la turbación”, they point out that it presents a dialogue with Van Gogh's painting and, in doing so, approaches one of the icons of modern painting to dive into his unfortunate, but luminous subjectivity.

It should be noted that this activity reaffirms the commitment of PETROPERU to promote the decentralization of its cultural actions; Copé's winning works have also been presented in Lima and Piura, and in the coming months in Ilo, Iquitos, Cusco, among other important cities in the country.

The Copé Award literary contest and the publications of the winning works are part of PETROPERU's cultural policy to promote intellectual production, access to education and intercultural citizenship developed by the company since 1979.

The Copé Prize is organized in story and essay biennials (on even years) as well as poetry and novels (on odd years), which due to its prestige and importance occupy a preponderant place in the national literary circle. Since its creation, it has been one more expression of PETROPERU's corporate social responsibility.
