Winners of the 2018 National Culture Award
PETROPERU and the Ministry of Culture announced today the names of the winners of the National Culture Award (PNC), considered the most important award in the country, as it recognizes the management and cultural development of people and institutions in favor of society.
Luis Ángel Humberto Rodríguez Pastor
On this occasion, the jury recognized Luis Ángel Humberto Rodríguez Pastor with the PNC 2018 in the Trajectory category for his originality and style, which he has shown throughout his long career. Much of his studies, for over half a century, are geared towards the origins of Chinese and Japanese immigration in the country, publishing important works, such as "The Chinese coolie workers in Peru" and research such as "Of tamales and tamaleros: three life stories" and "The Peruvian hot pepper in subregions and towns ", among others.
The jury that awarded him the prize was composed of the philosopher Salomón Lerner; the archaeologist Guillermo Lumbreras; the sociologist Jorge Bedregal; the director of the Place of Memory (LUM), Manuel Burga and the anthropologist Juan Gamarra.
Juan Cadillo León
Meanwhile, Professor Juan Cadillo León, educator and psychologist from Anchash, is the winner in the Creativity category for his creative capacity in his discipline, which is manifested in the improvement of the teaching process.
The jury that chose Cadillo was composed of the former Minister of Education, Patricia Salas; the director of the Pedro de Osma Museum, Pedro Alayza; the communicator Sandro Bossio; the lawyer Boris Espezúa and the archaeologist José Ochatoma.
Cadillo León, 46, has been working at the Jesús Nazareno Primary School for more than ten years, located in the Shancayán neighborhood of Huaraz. He has elaborated more than 30 projects. Five of them have been recognized in the country and abroad. He has won the "Master who leaves his mark" in 2014 and the "Good School" in 2015.
Likewise, the La Gran Marcha de los Muñecones Cultural Center is the winner in the category of Good Institutional Practices. This group of urban theater was created in 1990, in the district of Comas, and is dedicated to training, experimentation and theatrical production for open spaces, vindicating the history and identity of the community where they live. It has achieved important alliances with various institutions for different development projects. Its main objective is to contribute -from the open space- to the encounter between art and community, to carry out creative, reflexive and constructive actions that generate changes and achieve social transformation.
In this category, the jury was composed of the former Minister of Culture, Alejandro Neyra; the former premier Beatriz Merino; the lawyer Silvio Campana and the Cultural Managers Ángela Delgado and Diana Guerra.
The award, which PETROPERU sponsors for the seventh consecutive year and reaffirms - once again - its commitment to culture, will be presented at a special ceremony next Tuesday, November 20, at the facilities of the National Grand Theater.
