Seeking to improve the quality of life of dozens of families from neighboring human settlements to the Conchán Refinery, in Lima, PETROPERU has implemented the "Biohuerto Pueblos Unidos" program, promoting agricultural productive activities among the residents themselves.

This project, which aims to improve the economy of these families, has been developed in coordination with the Municipality of Villa El Salvador, as part of a program to take advantage of unused public spaces, giving them better use. In this case, a garbage dump was transformed into a green area for family use, contributing to the improvement of the environment.

The organic garden is located between the human settlements Víctor Chero Ramos and Ampliación Max Uhle, in the Metropolitan Park Zone. There, the neighbors have been dedicating themselves to horticulture, taking into account that horticultural species have an excellent potential yield and -according to estimates- they can give up to 50 kilos of products per square meter per year.

With this, PETROPERU consolidates its presence in the areas adjacent to its refinery and remains firmly committed to improving the quality of life of its neighbors, maintaining and fostering good relations with the community.
