UTP students visited Conchán Refinery
Students of the Industrial Engineering and Workplace Safety and Environmental Engineering degrees of the Technological University of Peru (UTP), visited the Conchán Refinery of PETROPERU to learn more about the management of the processes of the hydrocarbon industry.
The students received a technical talk by the engineer Jasmín Córdova, from the Process and Project Engineering Unit, who explained the degree of complexity of the refinery in the processing of fuels, as well as the operation of the insulation systems and the storage capacity of the tanks.
He also commented on the production of high-quality asphalts, the main investment projects and international certifications that the refinery has in terms of environmental and quality management, among others.
The students also visited the control panel where the engineer Andrés Galiano, from the Operations Unit of the Operations Department, explained about the measurement of the products in the tanks and the operation of the furnaces that are monitored from that unit.
In addition, he explained the procedure for the transfer of fuels through ships and underwater pipelines, as well as the type of temperatures to which hydrocarbons are subjected during processing at the plant.
PETROPERU periodically conducts guided visits to its operations as part of its Social Management Policy, which is oriented towards integration with its stakeholders through the dissemination of the work carried out in its facilities, respecting the environment and the community.
