University students are informed about the PMRT and its impact in the province of Talara

A group of students of the Communication and Business Image career at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) visited the facilities of Talara Refinery, where they learned about the progress of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) and the social and environmental impact that This one has in the oil city.

During the study visit, the students received an exhibition about the project, in which the exhibitor clarified his doubts about the PMRT, which to date has an integral advance of 75%. They also learned about the actions of social management and communications carried out by the Company in its area of influence.

The students learned about the social work carried out by PETROPERU from its beginnings in Talara, as well as the activities of relationship and cultural management of free income for the whole community. Likewise, they were given information about the social and environmental projects that are being implemented in Talara, along with the execution of the PMRT.

Among the main ones is the rehabilitation and implementation of the operations room of the Talara Health Center, as well as the rehabilitation of the main roads of the city. Another project that is underway is the solid waste management, through which it is expected to make Talara an attractive city for tourism.

PETROPERU also carries out, since 2018, a project to boost local tourism, through the Tourism Training Center (CENFOTUR), which has developed a diagnosis that will allow developing the design and implementation of multisector action plans that contribute to relaunch the tourist industry in this province. In addition, training and formalization of fishermen has been working to improve working conditions and opportunities for seafarers in this province.

These study visits demonstrate the interest generated by the PMRT in the academic community, either because of the social impacts for the benefit of the Talara population, or because of the incorporation of new knowledge into the country, from the inclusion in this mega technology project on end. These actions are contemplated in the PETROPERU Social Management Plan.
