Tomorrow is the presentation ceremony of the 2018 Copé Award
- Stuart Flores Herrera, won the Copé Gold in Story and Ciro Alegría Varona won the Copé Gold in Essay.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 5, starting 7 pm, will take place the ceremony of recognition of the 2018 Copé Award, the most prestigious literary contest that PETROPERU has been promoting for 39 consecutive years with the aim of promoting culture and literary creation in the country, as well as how to encourage reading in the population.
In this edition, the writer Stuart Flores Herrera was the winner of the Gold Cope of the XX Biennial of Story with the work "La Piel Fría". At the same time Gonzalo Enrique Castro Huayna with his work "El Palomar" and Luiz Carlos Reátegui del Águila, with "La Casa Abuela", were awarded with the Silver and Bronze Cope Award, respectively.
Additionally, the works "Un Poema, digresiones de E A B" by Edgard Antonio Gómez Aguayo, "Ohio 1912" by Ernesto David Salvatierra Mendoza and "La muerte del Sinsote" by José Luis Villanueva Victorio were honorable mentions.
For his part, "Adagios, crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica", by Ciro Alegría Varona, won the Copé Gold Award at the VI Biennial of Essay. In addition, honorable mentions will be presented to Salvador Raggio for his work "Sobre lo mutante. El cuerpo variable contemporáneo y la relativización de la figura del monstruo" and Quimit (Pseudonym) for his work "La Lengua de las Huacas: Una introducción al manuscrito de Huarochirí".
The winners will receive money prizes, the Copé Trophy and the publication of their awarded works. In addition, the academic recognition that means achieving this coveted award, which has also been obtained by renowned writers, such as Washington Delgado, Eduardo Gonzalez Viaña, Pablo Guevara, Julio Ortega, Ivan Thays, Fernando Iwasaki, Rocio Silva-Santisteban, Jorge Eslava, César Silva-Santisteban and Armando Robles Godoy, among others
The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 5 at the PETROPERU auditorium, Av. Enrique Canaval Moreyra 150, San Isidro, where the call for the Copé 2019 Prize for the categories of novel and poetry will also be launched. Admission is free.
