To the public opinion

with regards to the environmental occurrences of the 54+200 Km and the 55+500 Km of Stretch I of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), district of Urarinas, province of Loreto, Loreto region, we must inform the following:

  • Due to the request of the Nueva Alianza Native Community to set up a Dialogue Table, a conversation process has begun with the support of the National Dialogue and Sustainability Office (ONDS) of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, so that said community will allow PETROPERU to begin the recovery, cleanup and remediation of the crude, under the supervision of the Lamor specialized company, and with the support of local labor (in coordination with the Apu and local authorities).
  • Should there be rain in the area, there is a risk that the affected area (due to the leak of crude caused by cuts made with tools to the ONP) will grow in the hydrocarbon may affect water streams, and for this reason it is of the utmost importance that the population of Nueva Alianza allows, as soon as possible, the beginning of the works to recover the crude contained in the flotation canal and the remediation of the area.

To that sense, the ONDS has spoken with the Apu of the Nueva Alianza Native Community to inform them that commission made up of representatives of the Government and PETROPERU will travel to the Loreto Region to visit their community this coming Wednesday, August 31, in order to have a dialogue with his representatives and listen to their site, through a Dialogue Table.
