The Organism of Environmental Control and Evaluation (OECE) confirms that the taken place incident of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline in Jaen (Cajamarca) is part of the pipe maintenance activities

Very early in the morning a group of supervisors from the OECE and from the Decentralised Office of the OECE in the Amazon had been supervising the procedure of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline located in the district of Pucara, province of Jaen, department of Cajamarca based on the allegations about a new presumed crude oil spilt near the 8 station of the pipeline that are run by Petróleos del Perú - PETROPERU S.A.

It is necessary to inform the public that this allegation is not about a break of a pipe but the programmed maintenance activities of PETROPERU S.A. to repair the existent deficiencies of the pipe. However, the OCEC will accomplish its duty by identifying possible environmental impacts originated during the maintenance activities for the purpose of taking action on the required preventive and corrective measures to protect the environment.
