The melody of the bicentennial anthem is already a reality
Our country already has a new hymn that will be the symbol of the celebrations for the 200 years of Peruvian independence. PETROPERU, which has been actively participating in the activities for the bicentennial, decided to reward this effort, together with the National University of Music (UNM) and under the auspices of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Peruvian Board of Music and Radio Filarmonía.
María Elena Rossana Díaz Torres is the one who managed to win the second stage of this contest, corresponding to the composition of the music of the Bicentennial Anthem. The qualifying jury, made up of the teachers and composers Aurelio Tello, José Sosaya and Nilo Velarde, agreed to choose their proposal unanimously.
It should be noted that the qualifying jury was composed, in its first stage, by two writers or playwrights and a representative from the National University of Music. For the second stage of the contest, the jury was made up of three personalities from the National University of Music, experts in the area of composition
The contest was open to all Peruvians and was developed in two stages: the first dedicated to the competition for the creation of the lyrics of the anthem and, the second, for the creation of their music from the lyrics that had been chosen as the winner.
This contest was born from the initiative of the UNM's Music Commission in the Peru 2021 Bicentennial, which seeks to rescue and value the cultural and historical contributions that will be perpetuated in the Bicentennial Anthem, cultivating values and civic awareness at the national level.
