The Iquitos Refinery celebrates 39 years supporting the progress of the Amazon
PETROPERÚ's Iquitos Refinery celebrated its 39th anniversary of operation, continuously supplying fuel to Loreto, San Martín and Ucayali. The commemorative events were chaired by the General Manager of the national oil company, Hugo Chávez Arévalo, who was accompanied by the Operations Manager, Óscar Vera Gargurevich and the Vice President of PETROPERÚ, Rafael Zóeger, among other senior officials of the Company.
The day began with a liturgical ceremony that, given the health situation, took place virtually. Then, the delegation made a visit to the institutional headquarters, greeting the workers for their commitment and dedication.
The central agenda focused on the Iquitos Refinery facilities, located 14 kilometers from the city, on the left bank of the Amazon River, where the solemn flag-raising ceremony took place.
During his speech, Chávez Arévalo sent the message of the Senior Management and the special commission of the Minister of Energy and Mines, to greet each of the workers of Refinación Selva, recognizing the value of their work to promote the development of The Amazon. He pointed out that the Minister of Energy and Mines will soon visit Iquitos to inaugurate two valuable PETROPERÚ projects: the In-Line Mixing System and the Gasoline Tank Fire Fighting System.
The General Manager emphasized that the new Administration of the Company placed the oil worker at the center of its concerns. "I highlight the enormous human and professional potential of the Company's staff and the strategic role that each of the workers fulfills to achieve PETROPERÚ's objectives."
On the other hand, the senior official reiterated his commitment to increase PETROPERÚ's participation in the market and to complete the new Talara refinery in the shortest possible time, central objectives of the current Administration; all of which is part of a recovery strategy for the state oil company.
The activities included technical talks on the system of transfer of fuels in custody to the Iquitos Plant and the tank measurement project
The day continued with an exhibition of handicrafts; product of the training offered by Petroperú to the artisans of the communities surrounding the Operation.
The events concluded with a work visit by the delegation to the PETROPERÚ Sales Plant in the capital of Loreto.
