The first Joint Exercise to Control and Combat the Oil Spill was carried out successfully

The Talara Port Captaincy, together with PETROPERÚ, carried out the first Joint Exercise to Control and Combat Oil Spills at the facilities of the Liquid Cargo Dock of the state company.

During the exercise, a possible spill of 90 barrels of hydrocarbons was simulated due to the rupture of the hose, during the transfer of said product to the foreign-flag ship “Yasa Orion”.

Subsequently, the Local Contingency Plan was activated, for this, they deployed three containment barriers in order to control the displacement of hydrocarbons towards the anchoring areas of boats in front of the Artisan Dock of Talara, the San Pedro and Las Peñitas beaches, considered sensitive areas in case of a spill.

The Captaincy of the Port of Talara reported that it will continue to carry out this type of exercise in order to evaluate the personnel of the companies that carry out oil activities and raise awareness about the protection of the aquatic environment.

During the fiscal year, the company SAVIA Peru, Fire Company No. 67, the Health Center II of Talara and the Patrol Company of Costa PC-232 “Lomas” participated.
