The call for the 2023 Copé Awards of Petroperú came to an end
The call for the XXI Poetry Biennial and IX Novel Biennial “Premio Copé 2023” concluded successfully, considered the most important and emblematic award to encourage literary creation in the country and organized by Petroperú.
It should be noted that, currently, the contest organized for 44 years by the State company is already a tradition, as it arouses the interest of thousands of Peruvians, even from abroad, to send their works to the biennial. Also, a point to highlight is that many of the participants come from different regions.
This year there were 173 novels and 802 poems, which will now go to the qualification stage, in charge of the jury designated to carry out this work.
The jury of the 2023 Copé Award, in each category, will be made up of a representative of the following institutions: Peruvian Academy of Language, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, Ministry of Culture and Petroperú. The decision will be final and will be announced in December 2023, through the contest website, the company's social networks and notifications to the winners themselves.
Petroperú will recognize the winners with a monetary prize and the publication of the winning novel and poetry, through its Ediciones Copé label.
It is worth noting that many narrators have won the Copé trophies, many of them becoming magnificent references of contemporary Peruvian literature, such as Cronwell Jara, Óscar Colchado, Luis Enrique Tord and Gregorio Martínez, among others.
Since 1979, the Premio Copé literary contest has constantly contributed to the promotion and dissemination of Peruvian literature throughout the country, as part of Petroperú's commitment to the development of culture and literary creation in the country.
