Texts in the Wampis language will soon arrive in Mayuriaga, PETROPERU announced
- It was one of the announcements made in the II Session of the Dialogue Table for this native community.
- Our company already delivered educational material, benefiting docents of children.
- The implementation of a creole hens farming program was also announced.
Aligned with what was expressed by the Chairman of our Board, Augusto Baertl, on strengthening the strategic relationships with the native communities in the surroundings of the North Peruvian Pipeline, PETROPERU participated of the second session of the DIALOGUE TABLE FOR THE MAYURIAGA NATIVE COMMUNITY, which took place last week in the city of Tarapoto, province and Department of San Martin.
Just as in the last session, of August 11 and 12, leaders of the native community of Mayuriaga, as well as representatives of the National Dialogue and Sustainability Office, of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and of the Ministries of Environment, of Energy and Mines, of Health, of Transportation and Communications, and of Housing, as well as the OEFA, exchanged viewpoints and developed the topics agreed upon on the previous session, making a point of the fact that several of the agreements have been filled by our Company.
Amongst the agreements announced in that opportunity, PETROPERU, through its Corporate Communications and Social Management Manager, Luis Zapata Palacios, confirmed that the education material kit prepared by the Ministry of Education, has already been transported, with the logistic support of our Company, with the teacher training still pending. “Today we bring you more concrete things, such as the 150 book module. This way, we want to be a facilitator of the Government initiatives”, he indicated.
In that sense, Zapata Palacios announced that soon reading material in the wampis language will arrive in Mayuriaga, according to the coordinations with the MINEDU.
This announcement motivated the appreciation by the leaders of the native community, who agreed in saying that they will not allow the children of Mayuriaga to occupy the last place in reading comprehension. “Thanks to PETROPERU we will overcome this situation does quote, said the leaders as they thanked the Company for its commitment with this population.
HEN BREEDING
Also, and maybe one of the most important points, was the announcement by PETROPERU to implement a creole hen breeding program, which –in the words of Zapata Palacios- will serve as a sustainable business for the families of the area. “We will select groups to train them in the handling of poultry corrals and that way, in the near future, start their own business”, he said.
Additionally, Luis Zapata added that the new Board of PETROPERU has the challenge of changing things. “We will once again be, without a doubt, and emblematic, competitive and efficient company. That leads us to carry out important changes, and social development has an important leadership in the new structure”, he said as he indicated that the emphasis that the Company has is based on Social Responsibility with the aims of achieving a more friendly cohabitation with the communities.
