Talara Refinery carries out successful maneuvers at Pier 2 Port Terminal
PETROPERÚ carried out two complete docking and undocking test maneuvers at the Pier 2 Port Terminal (MU2), as part of the processing activities for the safe and gradual start-up of the New Talara Refinery.
The activity was carried out in line with the Resolution of the Port Authority of Talara No. RC.002-2022 of January 24, 2022, forming the Evaluation and Validation Board of maneuvers in the Port Terminal MU2 - PETROPERÚ, located in the Talara Refinery, and requesting the performance of two complete maneuvers, one during the day and the other at night.
In this way, the first maneuver carried out was during the day, with the docking of the tanker “Alejandro” from 09:12 to 11:30 hours and undocking from 12:12 to 12:45 hours; while the second was at night, docking the aforementioned vessel from 6:06 p.m. to 7:36 p.m. and undocking from 7:42 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The tests were carried out safely and successfully, in the presence of the members of the Evaluation and Validation Board made up of Luis Chávez, President and Captain of Puerto Talara; Herles Salinas, Naval Expert in the specialty of Maneuver and Navigation; Oscar Echevarria, Expert Maritime Pilot; and Abelardo Dávila, Expert Maritime Pilot.
Likewise, PETROPERÚ personnel participated through Eng. Gustavo Villa, Manager of the PMRT and Management Department, and Eng. Sergio Sedano, Test and Start-up Coordinator; accompanied by the staff of the Captaincy of the Port of Talara, Richard Infante and Nilton Guerra (Captaincy of Puerto Talara) as well as the Captain of the Tanker "Alejandro", Christian Palián.
This test makes it possible to correctly ensure the future operation of this modern port facility, which will mainly fulfill the function of receiving and unloading products on ships of up to 52,000 DWT (dead weight tons) in addition to the existing liquid loading dock.
It is important to mention that during the construction stage of the New Talara Refinery, the Liquid Loading Dock (MU2) allowed the unloading of large and important equipment for the new plant when used as a dry loading dock.
