In order to contribute to the control of the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 in Talara, PETROPERU donated five thousand rapid test kits to the "Carlos Vivanco Mauricio" Health Center II in this city.

The Chief Physician of the Health Center, Hugo Albán Gallo, thanked the state company for its contribution and commitment to the health of the population of Talavera. “This donation reinforces the concept that the fight we are undertaking against this pandemic depends on the commitment of all. I thank PETROPERU for this contribution that shows that this common cause has also made it theirs,” he said.

Albán Gallo indicated that these tests will contribute to cutting the chain of transmission of the virus in the city and specified that they will be used mainly in targeted groups of the local population that work in highly crowded settings as merchants of supply centers and personnel that come facing the fight against this pandemic on the front line.

Through these diagnostic instruments, health personnel will be able to quickly identify positive cases, which must be isolated and receive timely treatment, according to established protocols.

The Talara Refinery Project Manager, Jorge Alméstar Mauricio, underlined the actions of responsibility and social projection that the state company has been executing for the benefit of the local population in this period of health emergency. “The fight against COVID-19 is not an exclusive fight of the Government, nor of the Ministry of Health or any particular ministry, but rather is a fight in which we must all participate. PETROPERU continues joining efforts with an important contribution to the health of the Talara population," he said.

The Mayor of the Province of Talara, José Vitonera Infante, was invited to the presentation of this donation, who welcomed the support made by PETROPERU to the Talara community.

PETROPERU has been contributing to the strengthening of this health facility. Prior to the delivery of rapid tests, he donated more than 25,000 biosecurity implements for medical personnel, which allows providing adequate and safe care to patients for the next three months. Likewise, it has delivered, as a loan, 22 10m³ oxygen tanks thanks to the contracting companies of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project and has been providing food service for medical personnel who have worked long hours, which will be maintained during the State of National Emergency.
