Talara Fishermen's Guild strengthens its cold chain system thanks to PETROPERÚ
PETROPERÚ continues to strengthen the productive work of the artisanal fishermen of Talara. This time the seamen participated in the Technical-Productive Program in fishing that lasted 90 days and included the execution of three subprojects, which contribute to strengthening their capacities and include the implementation of equipment and furniture in order to improve the critical links in the artisanal fishing chain.
In the closing ceremony of the program, the president of the Guild of Artisanal Fishermen of the Port of San Pedro de Talara, Sixto Panta Ramírez, highlighted the importance of artisanal fishermen becoming aware of the maintenance of the cold chain for the commercialization of an innocuous product. and quality, from extraction to distribution, and the commitment of constant accompaniment that PETROPERÚ has towards this important economic sector.
As a result of its participation in the Program, the Artisanal Fishermen's Guild of San Pedro now has a van motorcycle with a refrigeration system with a minimum capacity of one ton and a 150-liter freezer with autonomy for coverage at the provincial level. ; with 12 isothermal drawers and an office implemented with the necessary furniture to manage meetings with members and potential clients.
Likewise, they have been able to benefit both from the training and implementation actions of the project to 115 artisanal fishermen, in topics related to organizational strengthening, in productive technical development, in logistics, in the distribution of marine products, in good practices of handling, use and maintenance. autonomous refrigeration, business management, cost analysis and business development strategies.
Fishing with a future
In recent years, PETROPERÚ has carried out actions aimed at promoting the development of artisanal fishing activity, recognizing the importance of this activity for the benefit of the economy of the province of Talara. In 2022 it will continue with other actions, such as improvements in the lighting in critical points of the Artisanal Fishing Landing of Puerto San Pedro, to reduce the risks of accidents during night activities in said facilities, the implementation of a fast aid boat and training in safe fishing to carry out quick aid actions and first aid to the craft boats.
