Statement damage from third parties cost crude leak in the 364 km of the North Peruvian Pipeline

This was verified by the competent authorities.

In relation to the crude leak detected yesterday Wednesday, August 10 at the 364 Km of Stretch II of the North Peruvian Pipeline, and after the investigations carried out by specialists, it has been confirmed that the event was caused by the action of third parties. The crude leak affected the Uchichiangos Gorge, located in the district of Nieva, province of Condorcanqui, Amazonas region.

Today, authorities from the Regional Direction of Energy and Mines, the Interculturality Direction of the Ministry of Culture, OEFA, and the Penal Prosecutor on Environmental Matters of Bagua visited the area, and verify the magnitude of the event and the cause of the crude leak.

 

Due to the immediate activation of the contingency plan, the situation has been controlled and the containment, recovery and cleaning activities of the affected areas continue with specialized personnel from PETROPERU and international companies.

PETROPERU is doing its maximum efforts to carry out the necessary technical and operative activities in order to resolve this situation in the shortest time possible and in compliance with industry standards.
