Statement 32-2017
PETROPERÚ regrets to inform that today, Monday, December 18, after an exhaustive search, the body of Mr. Richard Diaz Pérez, worker of the company CORPESA, who was shipwrecked on a boat on Saturday the 16th, while fleeing from a group of natives from the community of Chapis who wanted to take him hostage with other workers, was found. The body was found two kilometers downstream from the mouth of the Cangaza River.
PETROPERU expresses its deepest condolences to the worker's family, and also informs that the investigations have already been initiated and the complaints of the case have been filed with the National Police of Peru and the Public Prosecutor's Office. In the same way, the company CORPESA is carrying out the corresponding procedures in these unfortunate circumstances.
PETROPERU is committed to carry out the necessary accompaniment to the worker's relatives until the investigations are concluded.
Finally, we reiterate that this type of force measures only results in violence and in this case has unfortunately claimed the life of a person. Likewise, they do not contribute to generate development in the Amazon and fight against poverty.
