Statement 25-2017

PETROPERU addresses the public opinion to inform of the following:

  1. Having concluded the social conflict in Lot 192 at the end of October, during which the native communities generated the pause of operations of the Andoas Station, PETROPERU, during its patrolling and inspection process prior to the restart of the pumping, identified on Tuesday a small spill of oil at Km. 221.5 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN), near the Community of Chapis, Loreto. It should be noted that the ORN is in the testing period.
  2. Faced with this situation, the Contingency Plan and PETROPERU's specialized personnel were immediately activated and contractors moved to the area by air and river, controlling the leak and confining the crude, which did not impact any watercourse.
  3. As long as the excavation work is concluded, taking into account that the pipeline is buried more than one meter deep in a marshy area, the cause of the incident will be determined and reported.
  4. PETROPERÚ is working to resolve this contingency in the shortest time possible in order to protect the environment and the communities in the area; likewise, conclude with the final pipeline inspection tasks that allow operation with limited risk.
