About two thousand schoolchildren will benefit from the educational program "Educating today, for tomorrow's work" that PETROPERÚ implemented with the aim of strengthening the skills and competencies of 4th and 5th grade students from public educational institutions in four cities of the country.

The project, which will last one year, is an initiative that the state company has launched, in a strategic alliance with the University of Champagnat and The Learning Factory (TLF) and is aimed at schoolchildren and teachers from eight educational institutions in the districts of Villa El Salvador (Lima), Ilo (Moquegua), Ninacaca (Pasco) and Pariñas (Piura).

During the virtual ceremony to present the program, the participants, among whom were the directors of the Local Educational Management Units and the benefited educational institutions, highlighted the importance of this initiative that will contribute to improving the work trajectory of the students, enhancing skills necessary for a proper insertion into the labor market, as dependent workers or to promote an enterprise.

In the design of this program, other similar experiences have been considered, as well as the reality of each intervened area, through interviews held with the directors of the schools and the Pedagogical Management coordinators of the Local Educational Management Units of Lima, Ilo , Pasco and Talara. In this way, the implementation of the activities will be carried out taking into account the social and cultural characteristics and levels of connectivity of the beneficiaries.

The program considers components for training and permanent accompaniment to schoolchildren and teachers by specialists that allow them to strengthen their knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (known as STEM areas). In addition, they will develop their skills to generate entrepreneurship, as well as build their personal brand that favors their employability after completing their school stage.

The educational institutions that are part of this project are the following: Max Uhle, Las Palmeras and Peruano Candiense from Villa El Salvador, Lima; Domingo Savio, Ignacio Merino and La Inmaculada de Talara; Mercedes Cabello Carbonera from Ilo and Augusto Salazar Bondy from Ninacaca.

This program is part of the social management activities carried out by PETROPERÚ with the objective of strengthening regular basic education and promoting the progress of the inhabitants of the areas of influence of its operations throughout the country.
