Petroperú made the first delivery of 500 food packs, containing vegetables, legumes and fruits for dozens of students from 16 educational institutions in the communities surrounding the Iquitos Refinery.

This was possible thanks to a special project that seeks to strengthen agriculture in remote areas of the country, in collaboration with the Provincial Municipality of Maynas, the Ministry of Production and the Qali Warma National School Feeding Program, of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis).

This project has allowed farmers from the Independencia community, on the banks of the Amazon River, in Iquitos, to plant and grow vegetables such as lettuce, sweet pepper, cucumber and caihua, with the primary purpose of supplementing the diet of public school students. from the area.

Farmers and producers also received technical assistance in the primary processing of foods of plant origin, in order to preserve the quality and safety of foodstuffs for children.

In this way, with the application of this program, in which Petroperú had an active participation, it seeks to provide food security in the institutions of the communities of Santa Clotilde, El Milagro, Astoria, Independencia, Costanera, Centro Arenal, Barrio Florido, Santa Clara del Ojeal zone I, located in the vicinity of the Amazon River near the city of Iquitos.
