Regular and premium gasoline and gasohol will be implemented progressively
Petroperú has been carrying out the necessary actions to start the commercialization of regular and premium gasoline and gasohol in all its sales plants and terminals nationwide, within the terms established in Supreme Decree No. 018-2022-EM, in which establish the measures related to the use and compulsory sale of these fuels in the country.
In this sense, during the first 60 calendar days of the year 2023, Petroperú will continue to sell gasoline and gasohol with the usual octane ratings 84, 90, 95 and 97. However, as of January 1, 2023, it has been formulating regular and premium gasoline in its refineries, in order to supply the sales plants and terminals to achieve, as soon as possible, the dispatch of regular and premium gasoline and gasohol to its customers.
As may be recalled, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reported that this adaptation is carried out as part of the simplification process that seeks to promote the use of cleaner and more efficient fuels, in accordance with national and international energy policies.
With the commercialization of gasolines -regular and premium- the optimization of the logistics chain will be achieved, reducing the times of the activities in the commercialization chain, there will be greater storage capacity in the plants and terminals and greater availability of inventories.
Additionally, this process will strengthen energy security, provide a supply of gasoline and gasohol compatible with the evolution of the automotive fleet; in addition to reducing polluting emissions, improving air quality and public health.
In accordance with the regulation published on December 30, 2022, Petroperú, like other wholesale fuel producers and distributors, has a period of 60 days, counted from January 1, 2023, to adapt to this process. Service stations and direct consumers will do so within 120 days.
The MINEM also indicated that -exceptionally- in the interior of the country it will be possible to continue selling 84-octane gasohol until December 31, 2023, while in the Loreto, Amazonas, San Martín and Madre de Dios regions, 84-octane gasoline octane can be sold until June 30, 2024.
