Record of participants in the call for the 2020 Copé Awards

The call for the XXI Short Story Biennial and VII Essay Biennial "Premio Copé 2020", the most important award for literary creation in the country, organized by PETROPERU, culminated with a record number of participants.

This year, due to the measures against Covid-19, the participation was carried out virtually and greatly exceeded expectations with a call for more than 3,200 stories and more than a hundred essays.

Those summoned are Peruvian writers residing in Peru or abroad, and foreign nationals nationalized or resident in Peru, without distinction, except for the winners of the Copé Oro Award from the previous short story and essay biennials.

The 2020 Copé Award Jury, in each category, is made up of a representative from the following institutions: Peruvian Language Academy, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, Ministry of Culture and PETROPERU. The ruling will be final and will be announced in December of this year, through the contest website, PETROPERU's social networks, as well as notifying the winners themselves.

In this way, PETROPERU renews its commitment to promoting literary creativity in Peru; and deeply appreciates the dedication of the writers who participate in the contest year after year, now from the virtual environment, from more parts of the country and the world.

Copé Award

The Copé Award is a literary contest organized and promoted by PETROPERU since 1979. This year the Copé Award celebrates 41 years of constant promotion and dissemination of Peruvian literature throughout the country. In addition, this incessant work is one more expression of PETROPERU's corporate social responsibility as part of its commitment to the development of culture and literary creation in Peru.
