Recognition to the winners of the 2019 National Culture Award
The Grand National Theater was the scene of the recognition ceremony for the winners of the 2019 National Culture Award (PNC). The awards were presented by the president of PETROPERU, Carlos Paredes Lanatta and the vice minister of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Industries of the Ministry of Culture, María Elena Córdova Burga.
The winner of the Trajectory category was Miguel Rubio, director of the famous Yuyashkani theater group, while in the Good Practices category the Selvámonos Cultural Association was awarded, directed by Leonel Igersheim.
The President of PETROPERU, Carlos Paredes Lanatta congratulated the winners and stressed that initiatives such as the National Culture Award strengthen the assessment of our identities, reaffirming the creative and cultural process in our country. In that sense, the official said that the state oil company maintains its commitment to support this initiative of the Ministry of Culture, as they contribute to promoting people, motivating generations to continue contributing to the development of Peru.
While Vice Minister María Elena Córdova, welcomed the contribution and trajectory of PETROPERU, not only for the PNC but also for the Copé Award, the books of the Copé editorial line and the activity of the artistic exhibitions in its Cultural Center.
Miguel Rubio Zapata was recognized in the Trajectory category for the importance of his creative contribution in the perception of “who we are and how we are”; that is, a conception about ourselves in the perspective of mobilization of our present to build a more promising future. It should be noted that Rubio is a playwright, writer and theater director. He has shown deep interest in Peruvian culture, national identity, political violence, contemporary artistic expressions and, especially, for his work as director of the outstanding Yuyachkani theater group.
Meanwhile, the Selvámonos Association was the winner in the Good Institutional Practices category. The recognition of the jury was received by Leonel Igersheim, its current director. The prize was awarded for having become, in its ten years of existence, an innovative festival to achieve the generation of results at multiple levels: the local and global circulation of national music, the professionalization of cultural management, the decentralization of the offer, the integration of multiple cultural expressions and the dissemination of musical projects at national and international level.
