Protesters occupying Petroperú Station 5 radicalize protests
Petroperú expresses its deep concern about the radicalization of protests announced by the group of teachers and residents of Manseriche, in Loreto, who have occupied Station 5 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) since August 19, demanding that the State address a series of demands related to the Education sector and which are not related to the company's activities.
In the last few hours, the protesters announced that, since they have not received a concrete response from the authorities, they will take a series of actions such as blocking the roads and other threats against the integrity of the ONP industrial facilities, putting their lives, the lives of the workers and of the residents of nearby communities at risk.
Recently, this group of protesters, which has been joined by residents of the Jerusalem native community, set fire near the facilities while giving speeches, which increases the risk of explosions and fires due to the presence of crude oil and fuel in tanks and pipes.
Petroperú reiterates its call for dialogue and asks the more than one hundred protesters to immediately leave the facilities in order to avoid serious consequences to regret. It also calls on the authorities to intervene urgently to find a peaceful solution to this situation that represents an imminent danger for the entire population.
