Prosecutor’s office arrived in the area where the crude leak in the Pipeline was detected
The District Attorney Bertha Rengifo, from the Penal Persecutors Office Nauta – Loreto, accompanied by officials of the OEFA inspected, on-site, the damaged pipe in the 67 Km of Stretch I of the North Peruvian Pipeline, near the locality of Monterrico, in the district of Urarinas, Loreto Region.
The Dist. Atty. verified that the break in the pipe-which happened the past September 25-was due to actions from third parties. In that opportunity, a PETROPERU emergency team showed up, joining the team from Lamor, company in charge of the containment and later remediation of the affected areas. The crude is contained to the ONP flotation canal along 1,525 m long stretch.
As was verified by the representative of the Public Ministry, the crude leak was due to damage caused by third parties.
We reject the irresponsible attitude of those who were making cuts to the ONP in order to generate individual benefits, because with their unlawful action they are affecting the health of the population and damaging ecosystem of the Amazonas and Loreto regions.
