Promoting women's empowerment in the hydrocarbon sector

PETROPERU, in partnership with the Woman in Energy Association (WIN), held a conference today on the empowerment of women in the hydrocarbons sector in order to share close experiences and tools to promote the participation of women in this sector.

The event was attended by the Vice Minister of Women, Patricia Garcés, the President of the Board of Directors of PETROPERU, Carlos Paredes, the General Manager, Carlos Barrientos, the President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Ronald Egúsquiza, the Director from WIN - SEP section Lima, Tiffany Bayly and state oil workers.

The Chairman of the Board, Carlos Paredes highlighted the company's real commitment to the development of strategies that promote development and protect women's rights in the workplace.

For his part, the Vice Minister of Women, Patricia Garcés, said that in our country there is still gender inequality in the workplace, especially in the mining, energy and oil sector. In addition, he highlighted the initiative of the Company to stimulate this type of activities that is a reflection of the commitment undertaken.

In addition, a panel of experts in the hydrocarbons sector was developed, composed of Barbara Bruce, General Manager GeoPark Peru, Tatiana Alegre, General Manager Termochilca and Janeth Zehnder Head Unit of PETROPERU, where they shared their experiences and challenges throughout their professional career in the hydrocarbons sector.

It should be noted that PETROPERU and the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations recently signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement by means of which they undertake to promote the full exercise of rights and a life free of violence, lack of protection and discrimination through awareness, empowerment and generation of joint actions that promote a culture of peace for women, children, and vulnerable populations; as well as of the workers who work in the state oil company.
