PETROPERU addresses public opinion to report the following:
At 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020, a crew of workers who had been carrying out excavation work, as part of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), reported the discovery of human skeletal remains.
After verifying the fact, the area of the discovery was immediately fenced, as well as notifying the Public Ministry, following the procedures established for this type of cases, in order to initiate the investigations and carry out the corresponding procedures with its personnel specialized, complying with the protocols and procedures implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On Friday, August 28, at 12:20 a.m., the Provincial Deputy Prosecutor, Ricardo Aguilar Dios, was present, along with representatives of the National Police and Legal Medicine, who carried out the proceedings instead of the finding, culminating with the signature of the corresponding record and the lifting of the bone remains found, which were transferred to the Legal Medical Division, for the respective laboratory tests.
According to what was indicated by the representative of the Public Ministry, the area of the discovery has been released to restart the work that had been carried out, as part of the PMRT.
