The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petroperú, Oliver Stark Preuss, as well as the General Manager, Luis Gonzáles Talledo and the Operations Manager, Maximiliano Falla Navarro, verified the preliminary work to start up the Flexicoking Unit (FCK) of the New Talara Refinery (NRT), after completing the inspection and repair work of this important process unit.

During the work visit to the NRT, Stark Preuss highlighted the beginning of the preliminary start-up maneuvers, since the start-up of the FCK, which should take place in the following weeks, will be fundamental in the company's recovery process, by generating greater profitability. "With the start-up of the FCK we will be taking a key step to optimize fuel production throughout the refining complex and strengthen our presence in the market with quality products," said the official.

In this sense, he pointed out that governance will be strengthened with difficult but essential decisions for the company's recovery. “We are convinced of the relevance and competitive role of the company in the economic development of the country; therefore, it is our purpose to implement the best strategies to optimize its operations and, therefore, its profitability,” he said.

With its start-up and subsequent operation, the FCK will contribute to increasing the production of quality fuels at the NRT, such as gasoline, diesel, LPG, Turbo A1, among others, to meet national demand.

During the temporary shutdown of the FCK, in which inspection and repair work was carried out, the NRT has continued to produce fuels in specification, through its other 15 processing units and auxiliary units, which continued to operate, producing 38 million barrels of fuel.

FCK is the most complex processing plant at the NRT, as it boasts cutting-edge technology, licensed by the American oil company Exxon Mobil, present in only eight leading refineries in the world, allowing it to perform highly reliable and precise operations.

This technology allows the production of high-value liquid fuels obtained from petroleum waste, as well as flexigas to be used as energy for the network of furnaces and boilers and the generation of energy for the refinery itself.
