President Castillo visited ONP Station 7 after inspecting areas affected by the earthquake

The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terrones, visited the facilities of Station 7 of the North Peruvian Pipeline - ONP, located in the El Milagro district - Utcubamba province, after inspecting the Jalca Grande and Santa María de Nieva areas in the Amazon region, affected by the earthquake of 7.5 degrees on the Richter scale, whose epicenter was registered in the town of Barranca in the Loreto region.

The president was accompanied by the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Geiner Alvarado López and the Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Francisco Silva Villegas, who were received by the Head of the Western Operational Unit. Manuel Asmat.

At Station 7, he received a safety induction and toured the facilities of the industrial zone, such as the Control Room, the turbine area, the firefighting system and the area for launching the scraper tubes used for the inspection of the ONP pipeline.

Inspection at the ONP

For its part, PETROPERÚ after the earthquake, activated its contingency plan to deal with any possible damage to the ONP and proceeded to carry out inspections to detect any risk in its infrastructure and facilities.

In the first surveys carried out 42 kilometers northwest of the town of Barranca, Datem del Marañón province, in Loreto, the progressive Km 67, Km 181+783, Km 178+051, Km 216+230.20 of Section I of the ONP were inspected.

Similar inspection work was carried out in the Section 2 segments, exposed to the risk of sliding slopes and in the progressive ones where maintenance work is being carried out, as well as in the ONP's right-of-way, verifying in all cases that there is no there is affectation and they are in operative conditions.

However, detailed land patrolling of the right-of-way of Section 1 has begun, from Station 5 to Station 1, in order to identify affectations due to soil liquefaction. These actions will continue to be carried out to determine the status of the infrastructure.

PETROPERÚ sympathizes with the population affected by the earthquake and deeply regrets the personal and material damage suffered by the victims. At the same time, it is committed to joining efforts with the public and private sectors to contribute to the reconstruction efforts.
