Port closures on the Peruvian coast cause restrictions on fuel unloading

Port closures on the Peruvian coast cause restrictions on fuel unloading

PETROPERÚ addresses the public opinion to inform the following:

  1. PETROPERÚ's priority is to guarantee fuel supply throughout the country and implement action plans to maintain regular supply to its customers, which has been affected by port closures as a result of abnormal waves that occur in our coast.
  2. The following graph shows the total number of days accumulated during 2022 due to port closures, as well as the number of times they have occurred on our coast:

  3. In this sense, PETROPERÚ has been optimizing the logistics it has at the national level to meet the country's demand, prioritizing the following strategies:
    • Rescheduling of cabotage and import ships to unload at alternate ports, close to the affected port.
    • Land transfers from an alternate Terminal.
    • Local fuel purchases from other suppliers.
    • Unloading operations.
  4. It should be remembered that the commitment of the state oil company in its mission to supply fuel to the country has remained constant for more than 50 years of presence in the market; even in situations of serious complexity such as the Coastal El Niño and other natural phenomena.
  5. The regular conditions of supply will be re-established as soon as the opening of the ports is authorized by the corresponding authority.
