PETROPERU will take legal actions against contractors for oil overflow in Saramuro

PETROPERU will take legal actions against contractors for oil overflow in Saramuro

On Saturday, June 9 in the afternoon, there was an overflow of approximately 10 gallons of crude from a barge, operated by the contractor Transfluvial Rey, which was loading this input at Station 1, Saramuro, Loreto.

The overflow originated because personnel of the contractor company did not properly operate the valves of their barge. Due to this, PETROPERU will take legal actions against Transfluvial Rey as stipulated in the current contract for the damages caused.

As soon as the event occurred, the Contingency Plan was activated with the immediate laying of containment barriers to confine the spots and iridescences within the aquatic area of the facility. For the subsequent cleaning, skimmers and oleophilic cloths were used, with which the crude oil was collected from the surface.

The equipment necessary to deal with these contingencies are available at all times, in compliance with established safety protocols, which allowed the recovery of the crude oil and control of the situation immediately.

PETROPERU has notified in a timely manner the monitoring and supervising entities about this event.
