PETROPERU will support technical evaluation of the quality of the water in the community of Andoas
In the presence of oily spots in the Pastaza River, near Km. 12 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN), near the district of Andoas, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto region, detected on May 25, PETROPERU informs public opinion that:
- It is provide the comprehensive logistical support required for the preventive technical evaluation of water quality provided by Potable Water Treatment Plants (PTAP) recently installed by the National Rural Sanitation Program (PNSR) and the General Directorate of Environmental Health (DIGESA)
- The intervention area includes 12 communities of the Pastaza river basin, totaling 739 families and 3,765 inhabitants.
- Meanwhile, and in view of the communities' concern, PETROPERU has decided in a preventive manner and for the duration of the investigation on the origin of oil stains, to share the water available at the Andoas Station with the communities near the incident.
- The company Kanay Seché Group has started the immediate cleaning of the palisades, as well as hiring local personnel for the remediation activities. It should be noted that no new oil spots have been identified in the Pastaza River.
- Likewise, as part of its Social Responsibility actions, PETROPERU will provide educational packages to schools in the area and will carry out actions to benefit the health of people through the availability of specialist doctors; as well as the delivery of medicines to medical posts.
PETROPERU will continue to report the results of the activities aimed at determining the origin of the event and take the necessary actions to safeguard the safety of the surrounding communities and the protection of the environment.
