PETROPERU will start a modern Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant in Iquitos Refinery

PETROPERÚ, using state-of-the-art technology, is about to complete its modern Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant at the Iquitos Refinery, which seeks to guarantee the quality of the treated water discharged into the Amazon River.

This plant was designed using steel and stainless-steel composite materials to offer high mechanical resistance, allowing for the cleaning of industrial effluents so that they can be safely returned to the environment.

The project, which is more than 80% complete, will also allow the removal of sludge and the recovery of smaller hydrocarbon particles that are suspended in the industrial effluent.

It should be noted that this PETROPERÚ plant integrates ozone injection technologies, in order to achieve -in less time- high quality of the treated water.

Upon completion, the Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant will receive industrial water from the currently existing primary treatment pond, which, after a validated purification process, will be returned to the Amazon River.

With the implementation of this plant, Iquitos Refinery will be at the forefront and will be a benchmark in the treatment of industrial effluents in the Loreto region.
