PETROPERÚ will reward the winners of the “2021 Copé Award” competition

Through the Facebook Live of the PETROPERÚ Cultural Center and shared platforms, this Thursday, January 27, starting at 7:00 p.m., an award ceremony will be held for the winners of the XX Poetry Biennial and the VIII Novel Biennial "2021Copé Award".

On the day, José Luis Villanueva Victorio, winner of the Gold Copé Award, novel category, will be awarded for his work "Serpiente Resplandeciente" and Daniel Arenas Bardales, winner of the Gold Copé Award, poetry category, for his work "Ciertas formas del fuego".

Likewise, César Humberto Olivares Acate, who won the Silver Copé Award, in poetry, for his work "Buey manso o doce cantos para disuadir al matarife (con interludios)" and Miguel Luis Gil Castro, who received the Bronze Copé Award for poetry, will also be awarded for his work " Cinco días en Huarochirí".

It should be noted that, according to the rules of the competition, the works were received digitally as part of adapting the competition to new technologies and safeguarding the participants due to the health restrictions against COVID-19, receiving a total of 774 poems and 209 novels.

As every year, the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was provided for the communication of the competition in the various Peruvian diplomatic missions in the world, as well as responding to the queries about the competition from our compatriots abroad.

Those summoned were Peruvian writers residing in Peru and abroad, and foreign citizens nationalized or residing in Peru, without distinction, except for the winners of the Gold Copé Award from previous poetry and novel biennials.

Poets such as Jorge Eslava, Eduardo Chirinos, Óscar Limache, Ana Varela, Alonso Ruiz Rosas and Miguel Ildefonso, among others, are part of the catalog of winners and publications selected by the Copé de Poesía; while authors such as Sócrates Zuzunaga, Luis Fernando Cueto and Alejando Neyra, among others, are part of the catalog of winners and publications selected by the Short Story Copé.

In this way, PETROPERÚ renews its commitment to promoting literary creativity in Peru; and thanks the dedication of the writers who participate in the contest year after year, now from the virtual environment, from more places in the country and the world.
