Petroperú will present the winning works of the 2023 Copé Award

Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to promoting national literature with the presentation of the winning works of the 2023 Copé Award, corresponding to the 21st Poetry Biennial and the 9th Novel Biennial. The event will take place on Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m., at the House of Peruvian Literature, with free admission.

The books, published under the Ediciones Copé imprint, include "La memoria hila" by Elma Murrugarra (Copé Gold Poetry Award), "Río dormido sobre escombros de memoria" by Alejandro Mautino Guillén (Copé Silver Poetry Award), "Entre los límites de una vela" by Alex Ramos Arancibia (Copé Bronze Poetry Award), an anthology of honorable mentions and finalists from the 21st Poetry Biennial, and the novel "Los Espectros" by Christian Elguera (Copé Gold Novel Award). During the presentation, the authors will share excerpts from their works, which will be discussed by literary critics Ricardo González Vigil and Luis Fernando Chueca.

The jury of the 21st Poetry Biennial highlighted the stylistic and thematic richness of the award-winning poetry collections. "La memoria hila" was recognized for its subtle language that fuses verse and prose in an exploration of Peruvian culture. " Río dormido sobre escombros de memoria" stands out for its formal and stylistic work, in which the poetic voice dialogues with modernity and tradition. "Entre los límites de una vela" reflects on existence in contemporary society with a versatile and introspective approach. Meanwhile, "Los Espectros" by Christian Elguera recreates the national and international political history of the 20th century through the figure of Eudocio Ravines, exploring with remarkable technical display the intricacies of power and its implications for the history of Peru. The winning works can be read digitally and free of charge in Petroperú's Virtual Library.

They will also be distributed nationwide as part of Petroperú's library implementation program.

The Copé Award, organized by Petroperú since 1979, is the most prestigious literary award in the country and has established itself as a benchmark in the promotion and dissemination of Peruvian literature. With this competition, the company reaffirms its commitment to cultural development and the promotion of literary creation in Peru.
