PETROPERÚ will begin work on the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline affected by rains

The intense rains that have been recorded since March 3 in the Cajamarca region left exposed the pipe located in Section II of PETROPERÚ's North Peruvian Pipeline, reason for which it has been decided to suspend -as of this Friday, March 10- the transportation activities of hydrocarbons while emergency work is carried out in the area, seeking to ensure the integrity of the pipeline and provide the service in a totally safe manner.

The affected kilometers of Section II of the ONP are 506, 558, 563, 576, 588 and 589 respectively, where immediate actions are required in order to ensure the integrity of the pipeline and the restitution of the right of way.

Likewise, in the province of Jaén, the rains increased the flow of the Chamaya River, rapidly eroding its course, causing the loss of the right of way for the ONP and leaving the pipeline that runs through the area exposed to high risk.

It should be remembered that the rains caused the loss of human lives in the Cajamarca region, causing serious material damage, for which the Executive, through Supreme Decree No. 017-2022, declared an emergency in 20 districts of that region.

PETROPERÚ proceeded to inform the supervisory bodies OEFA and OSINERGMIN, the private operators and the corresponding government entities.
