PETROPERÚ will begin repairs of the pipe in km 221.5 of the North Branch Pipeline

PETROPERÚ will begin repairs of the pipe in km 221.5 of the North Branch Pipeline

After a multisectoral commission of the Executive Power and representatives of PETROPERU visited today, November 23, the native community of Chapis, in Loreto, it was agreed that the personnel of the Company will be allowed to enter starting tomorrow, November 24, to carry out the work of pipeline repair, which will prevent oil from continuing to expand and reach a watercourse. The repair will be made, as agreed, during 05 days for 24 hours.

The commission was made up of representatives of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the ministries of Energy and Mines, Interior, Culture, and representatives of PETROPERU.

Additionally, it was agreed to set up a Dialogue Table, which will have its first session on December 1 in the native community of Chapis.

As can be remembered, on November 7, during a patrol and inspection prior to the restart of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN), PETROPERU identified an oil spill at Km. 221.5, near the community of Chapis, district of Manseriche, Loreto Region. It should be noted that the ORN was not in operation.

PETROPERU, since the leak was identified, remained open to dialogue to reach agreements with the community of Chapis. Likewise, it will make all efforts to repair the pipeline and remediate the area in the shortest time possible.
