PETROPERU will begin remediation in km 221.5 of the North Branch Pipeline
After a long meeting held on December 10 at the Community Center of the Community of Chapis, the team led by Congressman Jorge Meléndez Celis, the mayor of Datem del Marañón, the representative of Pedamaalc, the director of the Health Network del Datem del Marañón, representatives of PETROPERU and the five Apus of the Chapis community, the conflict generated after the contingency which happened on November 7, at Km 221.5 of the North Branch of the Nor Peruano Pipeline, located in the district of Manseriche, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto, was resolved.
As a result of the aforementioned meeting, PETROPERU will start today the maintenance work of Km 224 according to the current schedule and preparatory actions for the remediation works at kilometer 221.5 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN).
The remediation work at Km 221.5 will last approximately 45 days and will be carried out by a specialized company. The determination of the number of workers that will be required for the remediation works will be evaluated by PETROPERÚ and the remediation company and the Apus of the community will elaborate the list of the applicants, after validation of the same in the communal assembly.
Also, as part of the social support in the remediation works, PETROPERU and its contractor will provide the Apuapisem Association with seed capital for the acquisition of Aguaje supplies for the processing of the plant in which five communities of this area participate. This project will be supported by PETROPERU.
For its part, the Datem del Marañón Health Network will implement an annex in the Nueva Alegría native community with a nurse and medical technician. In addition, the Pedamaalc Project will provide tools and training to improve the production and market of cocoa.

PETROPERÚ will continue to hold dialogues with the native communities, in order to generate alliances that allow the development of the Amazon and the country.
