With the development of the Productive Project for Raising Small Birds, Petroperú trained 389 families from native communities, in order to improve their diet and also start a business that helps them sustain the family economy.

The implementation of this productive project was carried out in the communities of 28 de Julio, Barranca, Ungumayo, 6 de Mayo and San Antonio in the Datem del Marañón province in Loreto, close to the facilities of the Norperuano Pipeline (ONP).

Each family received a rooster and six hens and were trained in their upbringing and reproduction. With this, they were prepared to add the consumption of foods of animal origin to their diet, thus increasing their protein intake and improving their nutrition.

As part of the project, health campaigns and vaccination protocols for the birds were developed, as well as the delivery of feeders, waterers and food.

The specialists in charge of executing the project shared their knowledge with the population about the management of small birds and how to care for them in the event of any illness.

The participating families, who were also trained to identify a potential business, presented projects for each community in which they prioritized the type of product, production volumes, sales frequency, costs, competition and promotion strategies, among others. All the information generated was recorded in a guide that was delivered to the beneficiaries.

To facilitate learning, theoretical and practical methodologies were used with specialized personnel who, in addition, mastered the traditional languages of the area, such as Quechua and Shawi. A communication campaign was also carried out in the area to explain the benefits of the project with broadcast on local radios.

With this project, which is part of our Social Management Policy, Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to the communities in its area of influence, promoting productive activities that seek to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable population, respecting their customs and caring for their environment.
