PETROPERU supports Talara students at ECOTON 2018

PETROPERU sponsored the participation of the Educational Institution Federico Villarreal, of Talara, in the First Contest of Environmental Education ECOTON, held in Piura. The objective of the event is that -following a training process- the students propose solutions to environmental problems in their locality.

The event, promoted by the University of Piura and the Embassy of the United States, was attended by students from 11 schools in Piura, Sechura and Talara. The students went through the stages of preparation in workshops on the themes of Water, Biodiversity and Forests.

In the last stage, called EcoChallenge and developed on July 14, the young people were put to the test in written evaluations of a theoretical and practical nature; to finally present proposals for a solution to a relevant environmental problem in the department of Piura.

The competition, which was measured according to the scores obtained by the students in the various eco-stations, was sponsored by important companies, including PETROPERU; that, in addition to having an information stand, was a sponsor of the Federico Villarreal Educational Institution of Talara, a school that obtained the fifth place in the contest.

The EcoChallenge also counted with the participation of renowned specialists, such as Heinz Pengle, Wildlife photographer of National Geographic, Eng. Jaime Nalvarte, Executive Director of the Association for Integral Research and Development (AIDER), Christian Gutierrez, co-founder of Evea Ecofashion, and Eng. Fausto Asencio Diaz, Technician of the Water Resources Council of the Chira Basin.
