PETROPERÚ starts the Sustainable Productive Project for Cacao and Macambo
In compliance with its Social Management policy, PETROPERÚ began the implementation of the Sustainable Production Project for Cacao and Macambo, in the Nuevo Milagro community, in the Morona district, in the Loreto region; in order to promote the value chain of these crops, through technology transfer and increased production.
The productive project called “IUSU”, which in the Shawaliyo dialect means “Productive Land”, will benefit the families of Nuevo Milagro, in line with the commitments assumed by PETROPERÚ with this community, located in the area of influence of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP).
The viability and sustainability of the project is based on the socioeconomic diagnosis carried out by the Maynas Technological Innovation Center (CITE), in which it was concluded that there was a demand for cocoa crops in the Nuevo Milagro community.
The implementation of the Sustainable Productive Cocoa and Macambo Project "IUSU" is carried out through the ECA (Field School) methodology, whose objective is that the beneficiaries learn by doing, that is, combining the theoretical approach with the practical one throughout the project. This will allow the beneficiaries to acquire adequate skills and competencies for the management of nurseries and plantations in the field.
It is important to highlight that the “IUSU” project is part of the productive projects component of the Social Investment line of the ONP's high-impact strategy for Social Management.
