Petroperú starts diesel production at the New Talara Refinery

The New Talara Refinery (NRT) began producing B5 biodiesel with less than 50 ppm (parts per million) of sulfur. This action was carried out after concluding with the warranty tests of the Diesel Hydrotreatment Unit (HTD) of the New Talara Refinery, which will continue its stable production, this month and in March, of 30,000 barrels per day of diesel, as part of the start-up tests, gradually increasing production until reaching its maximum capacity of 41,000 barrels per day.

The HTD plant is one of the three new hydrotreatment units that the new refining complex has to produce diesel with less than 50 parts per million of sulfur, in line with current legal regulations to preserve the country's air quality and the health of Peruvians.

To date, the Primary Distillation Unit, the Vacuum Distillation Unit, the Hydrogen Production and Purification Unit, the Nitrogen Plant, the naphtha and diesel Hydrotreatment units, the cooling and back-pressure systems have been commissioned. fire, among other process and auxiliary units of the new Petroperú refining complex. Then the conversion and deep conversion units will continue, which will guarantee greater profitability for the Company.

Built under the highest international standards, the NRT is considered one of the most modern refineries in Latin America with a capacity to process up to 95,000 barrels of oil per day. It has 16 process units and five packages of auxiliary units and complementary services, two liquid cargo docks, 21 new storage tanks and a modern accredited laboratory that provides internationally valid results.
