PETROPERU sponsors environmental education class for high school students

Under the watchful eye of school enthusiasts of secondary education, the 1st Environmental Education Contest - ECOTON was inaugurated, with the objective of promoting the care of natural resources, among fifth year students. The event, which was sponsored by PETROPERU, took place at the University of Piura and was promoted by the Association for Integral Research and Development - AIDER, with the sponsorship of the United States Embassy.

This day, where 10 schools participate, including the Federico Villarreal educational institution in Talara, is an adaptation of Envirothon, the largest environmental education contest in North America.

In this way, adolescents will be prepared to compete through theoretical and practical evaluations. Finally, in July, the teams will be challenged to propose solutions in one of the three natural resources of Piura: water, biodiversity and forests, called for this contest as eco-stations.

About each ecoestation, the students will participate in workshops where they will learn more about the resources of the region. This will be supportive for its final presentation, in which each team will present their findings and the care that their community must have to respond positively to environmental problems.
