PETROPERU solved incident at the 206 KM of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline

PETROPERU informs that the damage presented at the 206 KM of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline (Northern detour) was repaired by installing a layer that covers the fissure part of the pipeline.

During the preliminary inspection, no corrosion signs were found on the borders of the fissure of 55 cm, its thickness is in good condition and the outer layer around the fissure is even. It is still under investigation, with the help of specialised companies, to determine the causes of the damage.

PETROPERU reaffirms that the Peruvian Oil Pipeline has a maintenance program that permits a trustworthy functioning. Towards this situation the company had immediately started the Contingency Plan to reduce the impacts that this unexpected incident might cause.

Technical employees of PETROPERU are working on the repairing of the pipe and the cleaning of the affected area. All of the work is being done by community workers with the supervision of their authorities. Likewise, a medical crew has entered the area.

As part of the monitoring process there has been visits from the OEFA, OSINERGMIN, Port Captaincy, public prosecutor of San Lorenzo and the local authorities.

PETROPERU ratifies its compromise with the preservation of the environment and is working a 24 hour shift to repair and restore the incident in a short time period.
