PETROPERU’S 2018 Cope winners at UNMSM
More than a hundred students from the Faculty of Arts of the San Marcos National University attended the José Antonio Russo Delgado auditorium to be present at the 2018 Copé Award ceremony, the most important literary awards in the country.
The day was attended by the winner in the Essay category, Ciro Alegría, and the winner of the Story category, Stuart Flores. Also present was Carla Santa Cruz, communications deputy manager of PETROPERU, the organizer and promoter of these awards.
Other personalities who presided over the table of honor were the UNMSM literature professor Jorge Valenzuela and the head of the Research Unit, Carlos García Bedoya, who highlighted the permanent support of the oil company in a field as difficult as the letters. "Furthermore, the support of PETROPERU in the Essay field is something that should be highlighted," said Garcia Bedoya.
Stuart Flores, winner of the Copé Oro Award, in the Short Story category, highlighted the state's willingness to promote and disseminate literature, urging other institutions -public or private- to try to do the same.
The representative of PETROPERU, Carla Santa Cruz, stated that for the Company it is a privilege to reward these writers. He also stressed that the communication of the winners of the Cope award is part of the oil company's commitment to support letters and culture in all its expressions, both in Lima and nationwide.
In that sense, the official said that similar presentations will be made, soon, in Huancayo, Ayacucho, Piura, Arequipa, Cusco and Trujillo, among other cities, which reflects the decentralizing desire to spread the letters throughout the country.
In this way PETROPERU fulfills its cultural work for the 40 years of the Copé Award, promoting Peruvian literature and promoting public participation in the Biennial of Poetry and Novel that it carries out this year.
